Aluminum Simply-Supported Beam

 

Experiment

Measure the deflection at two points, x=a and x=b, on the beam with dial gages as a function of load.  Plot deflection y versus load P and determine the slope of the lines.

 

Theory

Assume E_aluminum = 10.6 x 10⁶ psi is correct for this beam.

 

Results

Compare theoretical y/P ratio to experimental y/P ratio at "a" and "b".
